FY 2026-27. In-hand salary per month; tax is for the new regime. Old-regime figures assume ₹1.5 lakh of deductions. Assumes basic pay at 40% of CTC, PF at 12% of basic, gratuity inside CTC and ₹200 a month professional tax.

How in-hand salary is worked out

  1. Start with CTC. Your yearly cost to company, as written in the offer letter.
  2. Take out what never reaches you. The employer's PF contribution (12% of basic pay) and gratuity (4.81% of basic pay) are part of CTC but are not paid as salary. What remains is your gross salary.
  3. Take out your own PF. Another 12% of basic pay goes into your provident fund account.
  4. Take out professional tax. Up to ₹2,400 a year in states that charge it.
  5. Take out income tax. Worked out on gross salary less the standard deduction, using the FY 2026-27 slabs and 4% cess.

What is left, divided by twelve, is your monthly in-hand salary.

Common questions

What is the difference between CTC and in-hand salary?

CTC (cost to company) is everything your employer spends on you in a year, including its own provident fund contribution and gratuity, which never reach your bank account. In-hand salary is what is credited each month after your PF contribution, professional tax and income tax are also taken out.

Is income up to ₹12 lakh really tax-free in FY 2026-27?

Under the new tax regime, yes. A rebate under section 87A cancels the tax when taxable income is ₹12 lakh or less. Salaried people also get a ₹75,000 standard deduction, so a gross salary of up to ₹12.75 lakh pays no income tax. PF and professional tax are still deducted.

Which gives more in-hand salary, the new regime or the old regime?

For most salaried people the new regime gives more, because its slabs are lower. The old regime wins only when you claim large deductions such as HRA on high rent, a home loan and the full 80C limit. The calculator shows both so you can compare with your own deductions.

Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC divided by 12?

Four things come out. Your employer counts its PF contribution and gratuity inside CTC, you pay your own PF, most states charge professional tax, and income tax is deducted at source. Any variable pay or bonus in your CTC is also paid separately, not monthly.

Does the calculator include bonus or variable pay?

It treats the whole CTC as fixed pay spread over twelve months. If part of your CTC is a yearly bonus or variable pay, enter only the fixed part to see your regular monthly credit.

How accurate is this in-hand salary calculator?

It uses the FY 2026-27 income tax slabs with 4% cess and a typical salary structure: basic pay at 40% of CTC, PF at 12% of basic, gratuity at 4.81% of basic and ₹200 a month professional tax. Companies structure pay differently, so expect your payslip to differ by a few thousand rupees. You can change the basic pay share and PF rule in the calculator.
