What this is, and what it isn't
InHandPay would rather be trusted than impressive, so here is exactly how it works.
- Salary figures are estimates. They come from a simple model of role, experience, city and company type. They are not survey data. You can add real numbers you have seen and the estimate adjusts.
- Take-home pay follows India's FY 2026-27 tax slabs. It assumes a typical salary structure, so your payslip can differ by a few thousand rupees.
- The decision helper weighs your own answers. It does not know your life. It shows you what your answers add up to and where they conflict.
- Everything runs on your device. Your pay and your decisions are never sent to a server.

How in-hand salary is worked out
- Start with CTC. Your yearly cost to company, as written in the offer letter.
- Take out what never reaches you. The employer's PF contribution (12% of basic pay) and gratuity (4.81% of basic pay) are part of CTC but are not paid as salary. What remains is your gross salary.
- Take out your own PF. Another 12% of basic pay goes into your provident fund account.
- Take out professional tax. Up to ₹2,400 a year in states that charge it.
- Take out income tax. Worked out on gross salary less the standard deduction, using the FY 2026-27 slabs and 4% cess.
What is left, divided by twelve, is your monthly in-hand salary.
Common questions
What is the in-hand salary for ₹30 LPA?
About ₹1,86,585 a month under the new tax regime for FY 2026-27, or ₹22,39,017 a year, assuming basic pay is 40% of CTC, PF at 12% of basic and ₹200 a month professional tax.
How much income tax do I pay on ₹30 LPA?
About ₹4,12,863 a year under the new regime for FY 2026-27, including 4% cess. Under the old regime with ₹1.5 lakh of deductions it is about ₹6,14,915 a year.
Which tax regime is better for ₹30 LPA?
The new regime gives about ₹16,838 more each month at this salary, unless your deductions are well above ₹1.5 lakh.
What is the difference between CTC and in-hand salary?
CTC (cost to company) is everything your employer spends on you in a year, including its own provident fund contribution and gratuity, which never reach your bank account. In-hand salary is what is credited each month after your PF contribution, professional tax and income tax are also taken out.
Why is my in-hand salary so much lower than my CTC divided by 12?
Four things come out. Your employer counts its PF contribution and gratuity inside CTC, you pay your own PF, most states charge professional tax, and income tax is deducted at source. Any variable pay or bonus in your CTC is also paid separately, not monthly.
Does the calculator include bonus or variable pay?
It treats the whole CTC as fixed pay spread over twelve months. If part of your CTC is a yearly bonus or variable pay, enter only the fixed part to see your regular monthly credit.

2. What the site provides
InHandPay is a free information tool. It produces estimates and suggestions from the details you enter. You do not need an account, and the tools run in your own browser.
3. Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is financial, tax, legal, investment or career advice. The site does not know your full circumstances. Before you act on anything important, such as accepting or rejecting a job offer, resigning, negotiating pay or choosing a tax regime, check the facts yourself and speak to a qualified professional where appropriate.
4. Accuracy of the figures
- Salary ranges are model estimates. They are calculated from assumptions about role, experience, city and company type. They are not survey data and are not taken from any employer or salary website.
- Tax and in-hand figures are approximations. They use India's income tax slabs for FY 2026-27 and an assumed salary structure. Your actual payslip, deductions and tax liability can differ.
- Figures may be out of date. Pay levels and tax rules change. We do not promise that the site reflects the latest position.
We do not guarantee that any figure, script or recommendation is accurate, complete or suitable for your situation.
5. Your decisions are your own
The decision helper weighs the answers you give. The raise scripts are suggested wording. You are solely responsible for what you say to an employer, the choices you make and their results. We do not promise any outcome, including a pay rise or a job offer.
6. Links to other websites
The site links to independent websites such as AmbitionBox, Glassdoor and Levels.fyi so you can compare figures. 1. What you type into the tools
Your pay, role, offers, living costs and decision answers are processed entirely in your browser. They are not transmitted to InHandPay, not saved on any server, and not stored on your device after you close or reload the page.
2. Information collected automatically
- Hosting logs. Like every website, the company that hosts this site may record standard technical details when a page is requested, such as your IP address, browser type and the time of the request. We do not use these to identify you.
- Fonts. The site loads its typefaces from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google when a page loads. Google receives your IP address as part of that request. See Google's privacy policy for how it handles this.
- Anonymous visit statistics. The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It records which page was opened, the site that referred you, your country, your browser and device type, and how fast the page loaded. It does not use cookies, does not build a profile of you and does not follow you across other websites. It never sees what you type into the tools. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for how it handles this.
